  Ch. Branaire-Ducru 2006 (FWJU0206)
  Classification: Third-growth

By no means comparable to their sensational 2005 or 2003, but still an outstanding wine, this singular St.-Julien always possesses notes of spring flowers, boysenberries, black currants, and graphite. The complex aromatics are followed by a medium-bodied, classic Bordeaux displaying a deep ruby/purple color as well as moderately high tannin. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age, and should last for two decades or more.

  Ch. Duluc 2002 (FWJU1302)
  Classification: None (Second wine)

Dark in colour, the wine is medium bodied and contains only the barest hints of tannins. The wine with subdued but elegant blackcurrant, pepperment, and spicy flavors and aromas, all leading to a good finish.

  Ch. Lagrange 2006 (FWJU0306)
  Classification: Third-growth

A very strong effort from Lagrange in 2006, this estate¡¦s tendency for including a nearly overwhelming oak component in its wines has been tamed in this cuvee, resulting in a better-balanced, potentially complex offering. A deep opaque purple color is followed by aromas of espresso roast, subtle pain grille, black currants, and cigar box. Full-bodied and surprisingly powerful for a 2006, with outstanding purity, texture, and depth, patience will be required for this beauty. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2027.

  Ch. Leoville Poyferre 2006 (FWJU0706)
  Classification: Second-growth

Dense ruby/purple, with sweet blackberry and black currant fruit with hints of smoke, espresso roast, and new saddle leather, this is another impressively endowed but tannic, backward style of wine. The concentration, brightness, and depth are all present, but I can't see it being even approachable in less than 5-7 years. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028.

  Ch. Saint-Pierre 2006 (FWJU1106)
  Classification: Fourth-growth

A candidate for one of the finest St.-Juliens of the vintage, St.-Pierre¡¦s 2006 is one of the smaller productions in this consistent appellation, making it difficult to find in the marketplace. Its deep opaque purple color is accompanied by notes of roasted herbs, charcoal, graphite, and extravagant creme de cassis and licorice. Full-bodied, powerful, deep, and rich with outstanding balance, purity, texture, and length, this stunning 2006 will be very long-lived. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2030.

  Ch. Talbot 2006 (FWJU0406)
  Classification: Fourth-growth

This fruity, soft, somewhat commercial, mid-weight St.-Julien offers sweet black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with subtle herb, spice box, and smoke characteristics. While not particularly concentrated, it is a round, aromatic, soft, sensual 2006 to enjoy over the next 10-13 years.
